Fresh cucumbers recalled due to salmonella contamination risk
Fresh cucumbers sold in 14 states have been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination. The cucumbers were shipped from May 17 through May 21 and distributed to retail centers, wholesalers, and food service distributors in multiple states. Mini cucumbers and English cucumbers are not affected. The recall follows a positive salmonella test on a sample conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The FDA is currently investigating a possible connection to an ongoing outbreak. Customers who received recalled cucumbers directly from Fresh Start Produce have been notified, and consumers are advised to check with retailers for further information. Symptoms of salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Severe symptoms or signs of dehydration should prompt immediate medical attention, particularly for children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.
